The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, in collaboration with Legends Global and the Hondo Rodeo Fest team, is proud to announce the Hondo Rodeo Fest was an immense success! Featuring exciting performances by rodeo athletes and lively concerts from talented musicians, the event proved to be a perfect addition to Caesars Superdome and New Orleans.

Families from across the region joined the festivities from Friday, April 10, to Sunday, April 12th. The Hondo Rodeo Street Fest began at noon daily, offering interactive activities for children and adults. These included mutton bustin’, mechanical bull riding, food vendors and live musical performances.

The Hondo Rodeo showcased top rodeo athletes competing in events such as bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

Champion barrel racer Mackenzie Mayes took home the Maverick Award, earning a prize of $50,000.

Bastrop native Cheyanne McCartney placed first in breakaway roping and brought home $20,000 from the $1 million purse.

Other winners of the $1 million purse included Bradlee Miller (bareback riding), Tucker Allen (steer wrestling), Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp (team roping), Sage Newman (saddle bronc riding), Riley Webb (tie-down roping), Mackenzie Mayes (barrel racing) and Luke Mackey (bull riding).

The Hondo Rodeo Fest will return to Caesars Superdome in 2027! We cannot wait for an even better and bigger year at the rodeo.
